PREPARATION
General
As your examinations centre we would of course like to see as many of you as possible doing well in your chosen examination. Doing well, however, means being well prepared. You can download a lot of basic information from the University of Cambridge’s official website:
www.cambridgeesol.org
Further information can be obtained from the German website:
www.cambridgeesol.de
The University of Cambridge has added a special website to help candidates prepare for their exams. This is part of the Cambridge Support service and can be accessed under:
www.candidates.CambridgeESOL.org
A large number of private language schools as well as subject teachers in secondary schools prepare candidates for the various examinations conducted by the University of Cambridge. However, the only provider in the state sector of preparation courses is Staatliche Fremdsprachenschule, from whose website further information about courses can be obtained:
www.abendkurse.sfs-hamburg.de
Self-study as preparation for your chosen examination is of course also possible, since you do not have to show evidence of having attended any courses when you enter for the examination. Individual counselling is available in the weekly office hours offered by the Cambridge Examinations Centre in Hamburg (Mondays between 4 and 6 p.m.) You will need to contact Mr Lippert in the School Office (daily between 8 and 9.30 a.m. on 040/42804-2456 and between 2.30 and 4 p.m on 040/42801-2396 or -2400) in order to arrange an individual appointment. Mr Lippert is also responsible for all registration procedures in connection with evening courses offered by Staatliche Fremdsprachenschule.

This website offers you a wealth of preparation material and ideas for FCE, CAE and CPE and provides both students and teachers with a forum in which they can exchange their experiences about the examinations.
If there are any doubts in your mind about your individual level of language proficiency (Council of Europe), you can visit the following website and do the online test offered there:
